I received a request for more information on email marketing.

There are different types of email marketing. There are optin lists, double optin lists, list building, bulk emailing, safelists, and rmail blasters to name a few.

Optin lists and double optin lists can be purchased from other website owners that have collected information from their customers. You can use these lists to email their customers. Optin lists are the more dangerous of the two because they have not confirmed their addresses and they may be fake or they might not have been submitted by the person with the email address. You can be accused of sending spam if they are not double optin.

Double optin lists means that the receivers have been confirmed and have agreed to receive email. These are also known as safelists. The confirmation is made when the person who signs up is sent a first email that asks for them to confirm their signup. After the confirmation is made they are considered as safe since this email went to that email address and was confirmed.

Bulk emailing and email blasters are a way to reach millions of potential buyers at one time. Bulk emailing is and email blasting are basically the same thing. Both either buy or collect a list of email addresses of double optin subscribers and either provide a program for you to send out your emails or you send your ad copy to them and they submit it for you. Email blasters usually do not provide you with a way to track your emails but bulk emailers may. Email blasters usually have a website you can go to and fill out a form and over the next 24 hours they will send out your ads to anyone in their list. They both are responsible for any spam complaints as they promise their service as being spam free.

The results that you get with this will be varied. The claims are that you can get a response rate of up to 5%. This mostly has to do with your product and how well you can describe it in 30 characters and get them to look at your email. Of these there is also going to be only a small percentage that will buy your product after they get there. The thing is if your website is interesting enough people will return just to see what has changed and these return visitors will eventually be your customer.

This is harder than having a brick and mortar business because you do not get to meet and greet in person and it is harder to build the trust and relationship needed for people to want to shell out any money. You, like me, has been burnt by so many people who are just after the money and then just disappear.
